Tile & Brick Food Plant Floors Pasta,  cheese. milk juice, beer yogurt, ice cream - Food Plants.  Many of the who's who companies in the food and beverage industry choose red shale "dairy" paver or vitrified tile floors,  especially in wet process service areas.  They have found that by placing a VTF System or Furnane System floor they have reduced maintenance and increased longevity of floors in operating areas. Nothing holds up better to the abuse, thermal cycling, organic acids and clean in place (CIP) cleaning solutions than these floor systems. They typically last 40 years or more virtually maintenance free.  Millions of square feet and 65 years of history are testimony.
VTF - Vitrified Tile Floors
The VTF System is a food plant floor system that incorporates a 3/4" ceramic tile with a high performance novolac epoxy grout and an impervious epoxy bedjoint.  These fully vitrified tile are extremely dense and are resistant to wear, impact and harsh chemicals.  VTF tile have a consistent dimensional precision and flatness which results in an extremely uniform floor.  They come in a variety of colors and are rectangular and hexagonal shape.  Installation of these floors is relatively fast compared to a standard quarry tile or paver floor.  The installation is not performed using the standard tile hand grouting technique.  VTF Tile are laid in a nominal 1/8" epoxy bed joint and by design are tightly butted together leaving an approximate 1/8" opening for the side joint.  After the tile are set,  a fine, colored aggregate is swept into the open joints which are then flooded with low viscosity novolac epoxy resin and squeegeed. This is followed by another powder broadcast and power grouting to pack and densify the joints. The surface is then cleaned and buffed. VTF Tile can also be used with standard tile setter techniques with typical 1/4" grout spacing using Rezklad HP Grout or other resin based grouts depending on operating service conditions.
Quarry Tile and Dairy Paver Floors Rezklad HP Grout is a water washable novolac epoxy grout developed by  Atlas Minerals & Chemicals to fill a need in the food industry for re-grouting existing tile floors and for new tile floor installations.  HP Grout is water washable so it is perfect for on the spot repairs in limited downtime repairs.  HP Grout is resistant to organic and fatty acids from food products, steam cleaning, and attack from Clean-In-Place (CIP) solutions including sodium hypochlorite, sodium and potassium hydroxide, phosphoric and nitric acid based cleaners.
